Rabbit

by Brendan Cowell (2003)

Co-produced by The Drum Theatre, Plymouth

in association with Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham.

In this darkest of black comedies, Frantic tackles ‘the dysfunctional family’ and brings it to its knees.

Talented but extremely ‘wasted’ MC, Spin, is in dire need of a fix. It’s time to ‘meet the parents’. Girlfriend, Madeline Cave, always trying to prove something to her neglectful father, plans to drop out of law school and become a rap artist. However, Paul Cave has his own bombshell to drop, his wife Kate has a live rabbit to cook and time is running out for all of them.

Artistic Director Steven Hoggett discovered this fantastic script while holidaying in Sydney in January 2003.

Rabbit was a snappy, surreal, farce from Brendan Cowell, one of Australia’s most promising playwrights, that toured the UK in autumn 2003.
