BEAUTIFUL BURNOUT REHEARSALS
A snippet from Co-Artistic Director Scott Graham's rehearsal diary...
Friday 25th June: Week 2
We are now about to finish the second week of rehearsals. Everyone is aching from the intense sessions of circuit training and boxing technique work. Amazingly all the limping and thigh rubbing stops as soon as the next session starts and we are all back into it, shouting encouragement and sweating like we have never sweat before.
We have also been working on scenes. After all the physical preparations I am sure many of the cast were itching to pick up their scripts and get into the business of wrestling with the words. As soon as we do this it becomes apparent to us all that we cannot make any work while there is a script in a hand. The physical demands of the world we are exploring means that the moment you refer to your script you have lost the credibility and physical presence needed. Everybody needs to be off script which means we have to meticulously plan which scene we work on.
So next week we are off to Glasgow for the final 4 weeks. We will all feel that burst of adrenalin a change of venue brings, marking a major step closer to the opening day. It is equally terrifying and exciting. It is going to be a VERY busy 4 weeks.
